We are pleased to be offering today this set of 6 really hard to find matching Victorian age solid walnut with burl walnut trim dining chairs that dates from the 1880’s era. It is a great looking set with burl walnut accent on the back along with the spoon carving on the back and below the multi-turn spindles and even the notch under the seat is all spoon carved. The selection of solid black walnut turn spindles are unreal for the strength and style as they are a bit bigger than normal. Everything is nicely turned. They were refinished a long time ago and it has held up good. The set of six is in good condition. One seat has small break in the cane, but it is usable. One chair has some burl worn down in the back. The overall size is 18 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 37 inches high to the chair back and 18 inches high to the seat. The cool thing about these chairs is that some of them are stamped in the patent date on the top of the seat “Patented March 8, 1881”. Talk about dating a piece of furniture, I said they are from the 1880s and look at the patent date. The chairs have groove posts on flared back leg, big fat fancy turn spindles holding the two turn legs together in the front, bottom seat trim, hip rests and it is a dainty yet sturdy set of chairs You are getting all six chairs for one money.
