This impressive antique quarter-sawn Tiger Oak dining table dates to the 1890s and features one of the most desirable pedestal designs of the Victorian era. The massive turned pedestal is supported by four boldly carved lion head legs terminating in oversized claw feet with original casters, creating a dramatic statement from every angle.
The 48-inch round top showcases beautiful quarter-sawn Tiger Oak with striking ray fleck throughout and retains a rich dark oak finish that highlights the natural figure of the wood. Built with both beauty and practicality in mind, the table opens to an impressive 78 inches when fully extended. While no leaves are currently included, the table is designed to accept up to 30 inches of extension leaves, making it equally suited for everyday dining or larger gatherings.
The sculptural lion head carvings are exceptionally detailed, with expressive faces flowing into heavily carved claw feet. Combined with the substantial turned pedestal and warm oak finish, this table is a remarkable example of late nineteenth-century American craftsmanship.

Condition
The table presents beautifully with only light signs of age and use. There are a few tiny paint specks visible on the tabletop, along with the normal minor nicks and dings expected of an antique of this age. The top would benefit from a light cleaning and polishing, or a very light sanding and fresh coat of finish if a buyer desires a more pristine appearance. Structurally, the table is solid and attractive, with outstanding carved details and a finish that continues to display beautifully.
