We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful carved grandfather clock that dates from the early 1900s in wonderful condition.  It came right out of an estate in Boothbay, Maine.  The overall size is 95 inches high, 15 inches wide and 13 inches deep.  The condition of the case retains the original finish and surfaces.  It has a brass 8 day movement and appears to be in good working condition.  It has a label on the inside that says it was cleaned in 1990.  It is a nice detail case with a swan neck pediment molded and applied with floral rosettes on the face.  The tombstones arch doors flanked by engage carving quarter columns and it opens to a brass and silver moon phase dial.  The silver dial has Arabic numerals with a second dial that is centered by applied cast brass scrolling spandrels.  The base of the dial is engraved with the name of the retailer, Shrimp Crump & Lowell Company out of Boston.  It has a well defined center molded door with etched and cut glass bevel panels that is flanked by rope twist columns and is joined to the molded box base.  The base itself has raised panels and the center most is applied with a deeply cartouche.  The case is setting on ogee bracket feet.  The overall condition is good but we always recommend that this type of clock is professionally serviced by an expert, We use a man on the coast of Maine (Ed Openshaw) and we can get a price for his services if desired.  It is done in the style of Walter Durfee, but it is not stamped with his name.  Shipping starts at $345 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.  Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
