SOLD Antique Victorian Oak Carved Vanity with Beveled Mirror & Ditty Boxes - 1890s
We sell a lot of vanities, but this one stands out as something truly special. Dating to the 1890s, this Victorian ladies’ oak vanity features a striking tall beveled glass mirror (with natural silvering streaks from age), flanked by two carved ditty boxes on the surface, and a full-width drawer below the base.
It’s made from bold tiger sawn oak and features carved accents throughout. We think this was professionally refinished at some point, and that it was previously painted white; whoever did the work left the inside of the drawer and back white, but the outside finish is so beautiful on the tiger sawn oak, we can’t believe it was ever covered up with paint. The vibrant oak grain was really brought back to life.
Good thing my daughter already has a vanity -- she fell in love with this one, but we’re in the business of selling antiques, not keeping them!!
