This is something you don’t see very often: A maple Governor Winthrop desk dating from the 1940s. It is most unusual, as these are most always in mahogany or walnut. This one will look fantastic in any home where there is pine furniture. The drop down lid opens to reveal a beautiful multi-drawer cubbyhole interior with a carved door and two cleverly disguised hidden compartments behind the multi-turned spindles. There are four serpentine dovetail drawers on the base that retain all the original Chippendale hardware, and the base has multi-ply molding, and ends in ball and claw four-footed base. The overall size is 34 inches wide, 19 inches deep, and 41 inches tall. There are minor nicks and dings, but it only needs a really good cleaning.
