Offered today is this antique tall dresser dates from the Victorian era, around the 1870s to 1880s. Folks, we sell a lot of furniture here, and I'm sure you can imagine that we've sold our fair share over the 50+ years. But some pieces we never get sick of seeing. This Victorian Tall Chest with a desk that drop downs is such a nice example of hard to find Victorian.
What makes this piece so pretty is the beautiful, choice of Mahogany figural wood with a beautiful burl veneer on all the face of the drawers, flanking both sides down the columns, as well as some details along the top. Stunning! The hardware is all original and is as high quality as the chest, and it does come with a key. We do not guarantee any locks to work on our furniture, because old locks are as temperamental as the weather in Maine winter. There is a dropdown desk feature that opens to reveal a cubby hole interior with drawers and additional cubbies for storage, and a green felt lined writing surface. This antique Mahogany and walnut solid wood with burl fronts dresser appears to have seven drawers, but in reality, there are five dovetail drawers for storage, with simulated third and fourth drawers that hide a desk! These drawers (which is a writing lid) drop down to expose a hidden writing surface, as well as cubbies and smaller drawers for storage. The top of the dresser opens to expose a hidden compartment! Boy, this piece sure is nice.
Measures measuring 38 inches wide, 22 1/4 inches deep and 61 and three-quarter inches tall. Condition is fantastic original with a gorgeous patina that comes from only antiques well over a century old. There are some very minor normal, nicks and dings that you would expect from a piece this age. But overall it is spectacular condition.
