We are pleased to be offering this exceptional set of eight custom centennial age dining chairs to you today. Dating from 1870s-1880s, we acquired these out of an estate down south. They are definitely bench-made, as they are all identical except there are four separate, different-but-complementary center back splat designs. We do not know the maker, but having been in this business for over 50 years, it's not hard for us to identify when we are in possession of something special. And these chairs are certainly remarkable. Additionally, they are really heavy (a sure sign of quality). In all solid mahogany; we cannot stress how much we are impressed but the quality; it is truly remarkable. And while the people we bought them from attributed them to Horner, it is our expert opinion that these are not only not Horner, but are from and even higher-quality maker, as the form is beyond words. The chairs measure 49 inches tall, and even the back splats are solid mahogany. As mentioned, they feature four different back-splats, two chairs of each design. They have cabriole padded front legs, serpentine front grooved skirts, one piece flared back legs and they are upholstered in a dark black leather upholstery, which should be redone.

Truly outstanding and beautiful, these are in great condition. They only thing they need is reupholstering. The overall size is 23 inches wide, 19 inches deep, 49 inches high to the chair back and 19.5 inches high to the seats. Featuring dark reddish brown mahogany stain finish, they have only the minor nicks and dings from normal use of something this age. Please do not ask us to break this set up; we want to preserve them as the set they are. Shipping starts at $395 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to obtain a quote for shipping outside of New England.
