We are pleased to be offering today this antique 100% guaranteed round corner solid quality tubular brass bed that has the original tag on it that says it is from the Whitcomb Metallic Bedstead Manufacturing Company out of Shelton, CT. They must have been a high quality manufacture as this bed is outstanding. The bed is not solid brass, which is very rare. This is a very heavy bed. It is not just wrapped with brass, it is a thick brass tube. I know because there a seam on the headboard that has come apart slightly on the right hand post, which has nothing to do with structure and it is hard to see. The bed dates from the 1890s to 1900s and if you did research on the computer, you would see this is when this company was around. The finish is good which is normally worn off and is slightly faded. It has a ball top and bottom that joins the heavy brass rod on the footboard and headboard. It has turnings in the brass on the round corners. It has original rails. The overall inside dimensions are 55 inches across the rails and 77 inches long. It would fit a modern day box spring and mattress will sit on top of the rails. The outside dimensions are 56 inches across, 36 inches high on the footboard and 54 inches high on the headboard. It is a great bed that is priced reasonably.
