This Antique China Closet is an oversized beauty! Featuring tiger sawn oak construction, and dating from the 1890s, this stunner retains its original finish which has aged with an absolutely stunning patina over the last 130 years. The side glass panels are curved, and the glass panel in the door is what it called “serpentine glass”, which means exactly what it sounds like - the glass is curved like a “S” or serpent. The aesthetics of this china closet are really splendid - the acanthus carved pillars that flank the serpentine glass door, the carved crest, the bulbous molding, right down to the carved claw feet in both the front AND back - it all comes together to create one gorgeous antique china cabinet.
This cabinet remains in wonderful original condition, and is only missing a couple of small pieces of molding around the crest - no big deal, but we like to mention it. Remind us as the time of sale and we will detail these out for you in our professional restoration shop.
This cabinet is outstanding in so many ways, but potentially the most impressive aspect is how much larger-than-normal it is!
Measuring 29.5” across the front, 56” across the back, 18” deep, and 75” high. The three fixed, removable shelves have plate grooves carved into them, and measure 13 inches deep and are spaced roughly 10” apart.
This oversized antique china closet is in unbelievable condition, the pictures can’t do it justice. We’re happy to be offering it to you today!
