This outstanding antique Victorian rosewood marble top center table dates from the 1880s. Of Belter quality (though unsigned), this piece showcases the finest craftsmanship of the period with ornate carving, rich rosewood construction, and a beautifully polished white and grey-grained marble top.
The white marble turtle-shaped top is inset within a gadrooned edge, the shapely apron is decorated with molded trim, carved flower blossoms at the center of each side, and pendant floral carvings at the corners. The table is supported by a bulbous reeded central column that is supported by four cabriole legs with molded trim and elaborate floral carving, and resting on casters for easy mobility.
Dimensions:
Width: 48 inches
Depth: 33 inches
Height: 30 inches
This table is in great overall condition. The marble surface is beautifully polished and free of major flaws. One small finial is missing from one of the knees, but this hardly detracts from the impressive visual presence of this table, and other than that, it just shows the normal nicks and dings that come with 140 years of age.
This is a truly spectacular Victorian center table that combines top-shelf materials, exquisite carving, and timeless design—a fantastic statement piece for any formal parlor, library, or entryway.
