This antique stand or nightstand or cabinet dates from the Victorian Renaissance era of the 1880's, and features some nice burl walnut accents. But what is really special is that one of the nicest pieces of renaissance Victorian walnut I've seen in my 50+ years. In the tremendous volume of antiques I've dealt with over the years, I've never seen a piece quite like this one.
It could be a music cabinet, display cabinet, nightstand, or anything really. All four sides are finished, with raised panels and burl accents, it has a single drawer that can open from either side, and a door that opens up to show a shelf interior.
I even reached out to some colleagues who have been in this business at least as long as I have to see if they have ever seen anything similar, but they have not.
The size is 30 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and 30 inches tall. The size of the drawer that goes all the way through is 22 inches wide, 21 inches deep, and the height on the drawer face is 3 inches. The size of the door opening is 19 inches wide, and 19 inches height, and the shelf is about 5 inches from the top.
We did sand down and respray the top, and this piece is just stunning. This cabinet actually comes with a key, but we never guarantee old locks, as they are temperamental. Take a look at the photos to see the raised burl panels, rosettes, and more.
