Wonderful original set of six circa 1910 solid oak dining chairs with a handsome dark oak finish and graceful, slender proportions. The set has remained together and is being offered as a complete group of six.

The chairs feature a shaped crest rail above two curving back supports, creating an attractive open-back design. Turned details accent the back posts, while the lower portion of each chair is supported by multiple turned spindle stretchers connecting the legs. The combination gives the chairs a light, elegant appearance while providing a sturdy framework for everyday use.

The oak has developed a rich, warm patina over more than a century, and importantly, the chairs retain their original finish. The natural grain remains visible throughout and gives each chair subtle individual character.

The seats are also original and remain usable. They show age and wear, as expected, and could be easily recovered if a buyer prefers new upholstery. Their simple inset construction makes recovering them a relatively straightforward project.

Condition

Good original antique condition. The chairs are tight and sturdy, with minor nicks, dings, scratches and finish wear consistent with approximately 115 years of age and normal use.

The original seat coverings remain usable but show noticeable age and wear. They can be recovered quite easily if desired. The wood retains a very nice original dark oak finish and patina rather than having been stripped or refinished.
