We are thrilled to offer one of the rarest sets of chairs I've had the pleasure of owning in my 55 years in the antique business — this Antique Set of 18 Victorian Walnut Armchairs in original finish and upholstery, dating back to the 1880s. These chairs, crafted from solid black walnut, were discovered around a conference table in upstate New York and are a remarkable find for any collector or interior decorator.
Each chair is built in the Eastlake style, known for its intricate designs and sturdy construction. The set is tight and sturdy, though a couple of arms will be re-glued prior to shipping to ensure they are nice and tight and in top condition for their arrival at your home or office. The chairs feature a unique design with a semi-circle on top and below the 5 slats on the backs, giving them an elegant, refined look. Note that 21 of these semi-circles are missing across the set (out of 10 per chair), but these can be replaced by our professional restoration shop for an additional $245. Alternatively, you could choose to remove the remaining semi-circles and touch up the color for a seamless appearance.
The chairs are upholstered in what appears to be time-worn leather, which would benefit from reupholstering to restore their full grandeur.
