Antique Pier Mirror / Etagere by Pottier & Stymus – Inlaid Rosewood #22464

This extraordinary antique inlaid rosewood pier mirror / etagere by Pottier & Stymus dates from the 1870s Aesthetic Movement era. This is a rare and breathtaking example of high-style Victorian design, showcasing the superior craftsmanship for which Pottier & Stymus were known.
The carved crest features an oval jade-green hand-painted depiction a classical cherub within a border of leaf tips, above gilt drapery swag. The central mirror plate is framed with molded inlay and mounted with four dish-top display shelves and flanked by narrow mirrored panels.
The concave case sides each include two additional round shelves adorned with floral marquetry panels of ebony and incised carvings. The base of the piece is also concave, with a molded shelf above a simulated drawer.

This Pottier & Stymus Pier Mirror is in excellent original condition. There was a minor repair to shelf edges, but overall the mirror and inlay remain in beautiful shape, and the gilded and painted details retain their vibrancy.
