We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful Victorian age black walnut staircase newel post that dates from the 1870's to 1880's. The house was in historic Waterville, Maine in a great old four floor Victorian home. We saved this newel post from the new owners. It is in the original old finish (never been painted) it comes apart with a long threaded rod. It has approximately 6 different pieces stacked on top of each other. It has the beginning rail that goes up the staircase. It would be an easy refinish job as it is in the original finish. It would look great in that new renovation. The octagon base is approximately 11 inches across and the overall height is approximately 42-44 inches high. All the turnings are there and there is no serious damage. Please look at the pictures to see the quality of this post. It will be shipped taken apart. Shipping will be $55 due to the length of the rod for a driveway delivery in our normal area. Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal delivery area.
