We are pleased to be offering today one of the nicer early Victorian marble top dressers with the full length mirror from the 1860s era that we have the pleasure of owning. It was sold by the L. Uter Furniture Company out of Royal St. New Orleans, LA as stamped on the back. This particular dresser has such a heavy mirror that the wings are built to slide off the tall mirror. The center finial is 13 inches high and the company had made a small finial so that it would fit in a normal size house if needed. The overall size is 58 inches wide, 22 inches deep, 36 inches high to the marble shelves, 23 inches high to the marble drop center, 103 inches high with the heavily carved crest and tall finial or it can be 92 inches high with the small finial. It is a white and gray grain marble top that shows some staining and we will try to clean it up. The dresser is all hand cut dove tail, hand carved mustaches style pulls on all the drawers and there are 4 small drawers and 2 large drawers. Look a the large keyhole escutcheons on the drawers. The candle shelves are all carved. The carved posts are all burled and have applied molding. It is a truly high quality piece. The inside where the drop center comes down is panel sides where it is normally a straight board. It has reverse tear drop finials on the top of the mirror and slide off arms. It has a heavy crown molded top and carved finial. The shelves are even cookie corner. The mirror is 19 inches wide by 4 FEET! The dresser is in the old finish and there are couple missing piece of molding on the bottom and there are a couple spots of missing molding on two of the handles that is difficult to notice but we studied it all over.
