We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful burl walnut Victorian cylinder desk that dates from the 1870's to 1880's era. It is a great looking desk that came in with the old finish. We restored the finish and even removed the old ink stains on the pull out writing surface. We re-stained and re-sprayed the entire desk. It had terrible looking wooden knobs on the desk so we put on antiqued reproduction tear drop pulls. The desk has a burl walnut carved gallery backsplash, ogee bevel edge across the solid top and the solid flat top of the desk has up by the crest does have a couple of stain spots that we did not try to remove. The cylinder is simply stunning. When the cylinder is pulled up and the writing surface is pulled out it reveals a simplistic cubby hole interior with two drawers. The bottom has four drawers going down the right hand corner and a drawer in the center. The drawer sides on the bottom drawer and the second drawer down have been replaced by the previous owner, the drawer bottoms and fronts are original. It has a panel side and an unfinished back. The desk is in a beautiful medium amber color with multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer applied. The overall size is 42 inches wide, 25 inches deep, 52 inches high to the top of the gallery, 30 inches high to the pull out gallery and the space where your legs go is 22 inches wide by 24 inches high.
