SOLD Rare Walnut Raised Panel Roll Top Desk by Derby

We are pleased to be offering today this very rare raised panel solid black walnut Victorian roll top desk made by one of the famous desk companies in its day and time: Derby.  This company was out of the Massachusetts area back in the Victorian days.  This desk is rare because it has a single bank of drawers with two pull out trays and a pull out writing surface.  I’ve probably owned 4-5,000 roll tops but I never had one with those features until now.  I almost kept this, but there is only so much room in the house.  This is definitely a quality and investment minded piece.  The height is 20.5 inches where the tambour roll is raised.  It has a large center drawer that goes all the way across, two pull out writing surface and the drawer base.  There is tons of storage.  It has a great interior that is stout and sturdy with pencil trays and burl walnut drawers.  It has raised panels every place you look.  The overall size is 42 inches wide, 33 inches deep and 51 inches high.  The pull out writing surface is 35 inches wide and 29.5 inches deep for work area.  The writing surface si 30 inches high from the floor.  This desk comes with the original lock and key, which is unique.  It is a nice original desk wit the original old finish.  It shows some scratches here and there.  It could use a hand polish or a refinish.
