Product Description

We are pleased to be offering today something that is rarely seen in New England anymore.  It is from a local farm house estate and it is a painted mammy’s bench.  A mammy’s bench is like a deacon’s bench that has rockers and a rack in the seat that will pull in and out to hold the baby. It was designed to allow a baby to safely lay and nap when the person would rock back and forth.  Someone has decorated this a long time ago in an old green paint.  It has a hand painted floral design on the back, seat and cross stretcher.  I haven’t seen one of these in a long time, but they used to be common in Maine.  The overall size is 48 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 29 inches high to the back and 15 inches high to the seat.  The side of the baby rack is 25 inches across and 9 inches high from the seat up.  It is a nice looking primitive that dates from the 1850s to 1860s.  It is really unique.  Shipping starts at $265 for a driveway delivery in our normal area.  Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal area.
