We are pleased to be offering today this mahogany civil war era canopy bed that dates from the 1840s to 1860s. It is a true period bed. It has a beautiful footboard with tapered columns, applied raised panels and deep dish molding on the stylish footboard. It has an ogee molded canopy top and appears to be all original. It even has the original rails! This is actually a full size bed. It has the typical tapered country looking back posts, cylinder round that holds the canopy on top and the original old pine board headboard that is usually covered with some sort of upholstery. The only thing I can see wrong is that someone used screws to put the molding on the back side of the footboard. I would counter sink them and plug them if I was going to refinish the bed. It is a great looking bed that is quite stunning. The overall size is 60 inches wide, 42 inches high on the footboard ad 39 inches high on headboard panel. From the top of the canopy to the bottom is approximately 98 inches high. It is a great looking bed in the old dark reddish brown finish. The rails are all intact. It is quite unique. The inside measurements for mattress purposes is 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. You could actually put a queen size mattress on if you extend the rails 5 inches. It shows an extra beam on the floor that actually is the cross member of the headboard which they didn’t put in when we took the pictures. Shipping starts at $385 for a driveway delivery in our normal area. Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal area. If you would like it refinished, please contact us to discuss your desire and the additional charge.
