We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful solid black walnut Victorian Civil War era oversized gentleman's pierce carved arm chair that dates from the 1860s to 1870s era. It is a beautiful chair that came out of a Boston estate with some other wonderful furniture (check out our store!). This chair has an extra tall carved crest that has flowers grape leaves and has much more detail than the typical chair that sells in the $500.00 range, please see the numerous pictures. The chair is extra tall, extra wide and extra deep. It is actually built for a large person. The upholstery looks almost original with no rips, tears, no rot, but there is a little looseness around one of the arms as it came out from under the gimp. The fabric is very usable. The chair itself is solid black walnut hand carved frame is in very nice original condition. It is dark and grungy from the years of use from the Civil War era of the 1860s. The overall size is 27.5 inches on the outside of the arms, 22 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 24 inches deep on the inside of the seat, approximately 43 inches high to the top of the crest, 16.5 inches high to the seat. Please keep in mind that there are no castors in the chair. The overall condition is really good and all it needs is some elbow grease polishing.
