- SOLD Antique Victorian Rosewood and Walnut Brunswick Billiard Pool Table-1890’s *REDUCED PRICE*
I have handled over my 40 years in the business probably 100 to 150 pool tables and I have never had this model. I don’t even know what it is called, but it is beautiful in the walnut and rosewood, already to go into your home.
We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful Victorian rosewood and walnut Victorian pool table American made and sold by O.L. Briggs in Boston, Massachusetts. It is trademarked for Electric Cushion Pool Company. Most likely this is a Brunswick pool table as Briggs worked closely with Brunswick. This table has been completely gone over inside out. When you get it is will have all new components that will increase playing, but all the antique components will be intact and original, but professionally restored. The table is a regulation size and has a 3 piece slate top. The playing area is 101 inches by 51 inches from bumper to bumper. The outside dimensions of the table bed are 109 inches by 59.5 inches. The table came to us with the understanding that it was inlaid and it appeared to be the first couple of times we handled it in the warehouse, but upon closer inspection it is simply hand decorated with a paint similar to a pin striping of automobiles. They put different designs on it and some places are a little wiggly, but overall it looks pretty nice. What we like about it is that it has a nice mellow amber color instead of the bright inlay that we thought it was originally. Keep in mind that we touched up the hand decoration where it was faded. Also at the end, you get a new pool table starting package which gives you a combination of everything you need to start playing although it is not the professional package so you will want to upgrade as you get better. The table itself is gorgeous. We stripped, kept the patina of the wood, hand sanded lightly, put an amber yellowish stain to bring out the great look of the rosewood and walnut, applied hand rubbed lacquer, 4 coats of sealer with a hand rub in between, 2 coats of clear coat moisture resistance semi gloss top to give you a finish for years and years to come. The pockets are in really poor condition and we are sending them out to have them re-nickled. We will put on leather or webbed pockets, whichever the buyer prefers. Please look at the numerous pictures that we have taken of this gorgeous table with the tapered fluted legs with multiple stages of decorations on each end. There is a block and panel end on the side rails and on the big rails on the front and back. The stencil is also on the side rails. This table is earlier than normal being around the 1890's. The finish is very nice and professional. The table will be delivered all disassembled for safety. You will have to hire a local craftsman to put the table together and they range anywhere from $200 to $500 normally to set up the table, put the slate down and put the felt down. Keep watch of our site as we have about a dozen more pool tables in a variety of styles such as oak, inlaid and even one from Belgium that has the brass lion face for snookers. The cost for crating the slate and delivering to your home will start at $675.00 and maybe more if not in our normal shipping area, please check before buying. Enjoy and check our site daily as we are always listing unusual high quality antiques in many styles!!
