This chair is a wonderful Victorian needlepoint fabric gentleman’s arm chair in solid black walnut, dating from the Civil War era of the 1860s to 1880s. This balloon back chair is a great example of Victorian furniture. It is covered in a dark green fabric with needlepoint designs on the seat and back, not petit-point, but needlepoint. I think it may even be original to the chair. The chair’s finish is original dark walnut, and it has big high-knuckle arms, an open arm style, balloon back, cabriole legs, original brass casters, and carved finger grooves throughout. The size across the arms is 26 inches wide,24 inches deep, 45 inches high on the back, 24 inches high to the arm, and 18 inches high to the seat. It has only minor little nicks and dings, but is a beautiful chair for your home.
