This is a beautiful oversized gentleman’s arm chair of solid black walnut with burl walnut trim, that dates from the Civil War era of 1860s-‘70s. The patina of this chair is amazing, and it had to be polished when the upholstery was redone years ago, and the shine is great. The only thing I can see wrong with this chair at all is that the tip of the crest is missing, but that’s very common. All the burl panels, carved knuckles, and cabriole leg carvings are intact. On the right hand arm, you can see where it has become loose over the years, but we will check it out before shipping. The fabric is a yellowish brocade fabric, and the only flaw I can see on that is a tiny little spot in front where someone picked at a thread, and it can probably be repaired. The overall size of the chair is 25 inches across the arms, 21 inches inside the arms, 24 inches deep, 46 inches high on the chair back, 24 inches to the arm, and 18 inches to the seat. On the very back I notice a tiny bit of staining on the molding of the upholstery, which I’m sure can be cleaned, but is on the back and not immediately evident.
