We are pleased to be offering today a wonderful set of six centennial age to possibly 1890s solid mahogany Chippendale ball and claw city style dining chairs. We have purchased these off the cape in Massachusetts in a large estate sale and they had some very nice goods. The set of six almost appear to be hand carved because of the little tiny differences in the carving and the styles. The chairs are all solid mahogany. We have taken them in to have them stripped, glued up, sanded and applied a brownish red mahogany stain and applied multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer. We have also picked out a period wine color crushed velour fabric for the seats that accents the wonderful finish of the chairs. Every time we upholster a set of chairs the crew goes around and debates on what fabric to use, but even if you dont like the fabric on the chairs all you have to do is wrap your fabric around the current fabric. The hard work of reupholstering the seats has been done for you as the foam has been installed to make sure the chairs are right looking and comfortable. The chairs are oversize and solid mahogany in construction. They have a beautiful ball and claw leg, carved elbows, sit in frame around the seat and the back is awesome. The seat itself is 21 inches wide and 23 inches wide across the cabriole legs. The chairs are 19 inches deep, 42 inches high to the crest rail and 19 inches high to the seat. It is a gorgeous and stunning set of chairs. Do not confuse these with any of the newer style chairs as these are really from the 1880s to 1890s era. Please check our other listings as we are always listing the high quality stylish goods.
