This is a wonderful set of eight solid mahogany dining chairs, dating from the 1930s and made by the Davenport Furniture Company of Boston. It’s a really high-end set, with two arm chairs and six side chairs. They have extra-tall backs, country Chippendale front legs, solid mahogany completely around the entire chair, and they have been upholstered in a green leather or simulated leather that appear to be in good condition, but can easily be popped out and replaced. The chairs are quite unique, and reek of quality. They are all of joinery construction, and fit so perfectly. They have a beaded edge around the seats and solid mahogany, extra-thick cross-stretchers, along with unique back contours. These touches show why Davenport is so highly regarded. The overall size of the side chairs is 21 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 40 inches high, and 19 inches to the seat. The arm chairs are 22 inches wide, 19 inches deep, 40 inches tall, and 19 inches to the seat. The set is finished in a light brownish stain with a bit of reddish tint. There is a very warm patina on the entire set, and there is only minor finish loss and normal nicks and dings.
