We are pleased to be offering today this very wonderful set of four original solid oak cane seat and cane back dining chairs that dates from the turn of the century to 1910's. This particular set of chairs would almost remind you of black forest furniture because of the carved crest on the back. Please look at the pictures to see the two birds up against a shield with full wing span right down to showing their talons holding onto the carved leaf underneath. It shows dainty finials, carved center blocks, fluted posts, fluted reeded legs, tapered cross stretcher of solid oak, chip carved seats and the cane back features grape clusters and grape leaves. It is a dark oak finish stain. There is some roughness on one seat on one corner that blends in and looks awesome. You can barely see where someone had glued up one of the back posts, but we will detail it out so that you will not be able to tell upon delivery. One of the cane backs is a little loose, but all the remainder of cane is good. These are not the type of chairs that you use daily as they are fragile, but they are great to show off and admire. They chairs are fairly tight, but all chairs should be re-glued. The overall size is 17.5 inches wide, 16.5 inches deep, 44.5 inches high to the top of the carved crest and 19 inches high to the seat. I noticed also on a couple of the carved crests that there are a couple of small chips. Shipping starts at $249 if you are in our normal area.
