We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful solid mahogany Duncan Phyfe Regency style carved all through the face curved arm sofa that dates from the 1880s to early 1900s I am guessing. We had bought this sofa and was going to redo it and reupholster it. Since we have gotten out of the upholstering business, we are just going to cash it up and you can have it reupholstered if desired by your own local company. It is a beautiful sofa of solid mahogany. There are a few flaws here and there. One the very back there is a piece of molding missing near the rosettes on one side on top and there are a few cracks in the wood which will be re-glued when you have the sofa reupholstered as they always tighten the frame. It has claw feet all the way around. Two of the pieces of the claw have fallen off, which is simply a lamination where they need to be glued and clamped back on. We can do it, if you desire, but if you are going to strip and reupholster the sofa, you will likely want your cabinet maker to do it. It is finished in a dark reddish brown finish and is really in pretty nice shape with a few flaws. The work to be done is reflected in the reasonable price as it would bring almost 3 times as much as we are asking if all the flaws were corrected.
Also, please note that the gimp is intact, but has come loose. However, when reupholstering the gimp is always replaced. You could give the fabric a good cleaning and re-attach the gimp for a lovely piece. The overall size is 34 inches high to the back, 32 inches high to the arm, 20 inches high to the seat, 54 inches wide and approximately 23 inches deep. Shipping starts at $385 for a driveway delivery in our normal area. Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are within our normal area.
