We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful solid black walnut civil war era drop lid raised panel secretary desk with the Jenny Lind carvings on the tops of both glass doors that dates from the 1860s to 1870s era. It is a wonderful original condition piece that hasn't even been cleaned yet. It comes in two sections and has three adjustable shelves and three drawers for storage. The raised panels are burl on the writing lid there is a small seam or slight crack on the left side, but other wise the desk is in really nice condition. It has hand cut dove tails, a true sign of the era. When you flip down the raised panel top it has a green velvet lined writing surface and a multi cubby hole and drawer interior. The two glass doors on top have molding around the inside and retains the original wavy glass with a bust carving of Jenny Lind on the tops of both doors. The top has extra deep crown molding and it is in excellent original condition. The three hand cut dove tail drawers in the base have carved handle pulls. Everything is in original condition. The overall size is 42 inches wide, 18.5 inches deep on the base, approximately 12 inches deep on top and 88 inches high overall.
