We are very excited to have located another really difficult find in the antique world as displayed in this period Biedermeier olive ash with this ebonized inlaid and trim abante that dates from the 1850s era. It is just off a container from overseas. This chest is in unbelievable condition. Someone has put brass cast escutcheons, key hole covers, on. This is a wonderful extra clean chest with a desk. When you open up the olive ash burl lid/writing surface, it reveals 8 hand cut dove tails drawer with original knobs and a storage area in the center which is a tombstone style. The inside of the lid has some minor cracking on the cover which is nothing serious from being very dry in a house over the years. I can never stop gazing at some of the furniture that was made by the cabinet makers from the past. They had to the find the burl veneer, then match it up and put it all together to make a piece of art like this face front. It has a closed shape top front that goes down into a three piece section and has four drawers in the desk in the front. All the locks are there, but we never guarantee them to work as sometimes need special attention. It has ebony inlaid throughout the piece and is olive ash burl. It is a triple section with an original raised panel back and bun feet. The overall size is 39.5 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 67 inches high. The lid when opened is 34.5 inches high from the floor. On the back you can see where a couple of nicks and dings have been previously filled.
