We are pleased to be offering today one of the most unusual and rarest pair of twin size beds that we have ever had in our over 40 years in the antique business. Take a look at the numerous pictures, as these beds have been all stripped, sanded, repaired and refinished in our professional restoration shop by Mike and Al. they have done a fantastic job going over them in detail, so that when they arrive at your home all you have to do is enjoy them for decades to come. They are French style beds somewhat with a very unusual head board that has a cove going around the inside with the use of multiple veneers which are Corinthian elm burl, mahogany striped, walnut and other numerous veneers. The wood is most likely tulip stained a medium walnut color. The legs and the base are all hand carved. The most unusual things about this is the clam shell gold accent on the headboard panels, the wonderful crest on top and the beautiful braided gold accent trim around the perimeter of the head board. The nice thing about these beds is that they take a modern day box spring and mattress even though they date from the 1920s to 1930s. The actually take a 39 by 75 inch twin size mattress. The outside dimensions is 45 inches wide at the curled foot board post, the height of the footboard is 25 inches at the shield in the center, 27 inches high on the highest point of the foot board and the height to the carved crest on the head board is 51 inches. They are a beautiful pair of beds. Even the side rails are bulged I the ox bow design. I am sure that these were made and sold by one of the more expensive companies of its day. You would have bragging rights with a unusual pair of beds like this, no one would ever be able to say they have ever seen or owned anything like them!!!
