We are pleased to be offering today this stunning example of Empire classical acanthus carved claw footed two door bookcase in unbelievable condition. I am dating this from the centennial era of the 1870s to 1880s . It is amazing how mint it is. It has two individual mullion doors with 9 individual panes of glass in each door. Behind the two doors are four adjustable shelves to hold plenty of goods. The shelves are 10 inches deep and approximately 44 inches long. The cabinet was purchased from an old time friend in the antique business who has owned it since the 1970s that I know of and that he recalls. The finish is mind boggling how nice it is. The panels on the sides that are usual always cracked, are not. The acanthus carved pillars are excellent. It has a gadroon edge along the base of the cabinet and the top. It has cookie corner designs. The back is raised panel; a sign of quality. The overall size is 52 inches wide across the base, 17.5 inches deep and 71 inches high. The doors are 21 inches wide and 58 inches high. The overall condition is unbelievable. I study this piece looking for anything wrong, I found the bottom right hand panel has a couple of very small chips. The finish is beautiful.
