We are pleased to be offering today this fantastic set of six totally refinished re-caned solid tiger sawn oak #1 Larkin press back dining chairs that date from the 1900-1905 in refinished condition. These were purchased out of a local home in Maine, where they purchased them approximately 10 years ago all restored and re-caned. The finish is 10 years old, but I can’t find any flaws except a couple of nicks and dings from normal wear and one cane seat has a very small hole in the cane. They are gorgeous and beautiful in the dark oak stain. In the antique business, in the last 50 years, this has been THE CHAIR that all dealers sought after. This is the one of the first chairs that the reproduction companies tried to produce, but they never could accomplish it. These were given away free by the Larkin Soap Company if you bought so many boxes of soap back in the 1890's-1900's. IN the trade it is referred to as the Larkin #1 as they offered four different styles of this same press back with different posts. This is the set with twisted leg posts. The chairs are beautiful with double press backs, turned rabbit ears, twisted spindles on the outside back legs, triple cross spindle stretchers and seat trim that is often missing. This is a stunning set of six. The finish is a nice warm patina amber glow. The overall size is 18 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 43 inches high to the back and 18 inches high to the seat. The most desirable press back chair is something we keep in stock, so we could accommodate any size set of chairs you may need. We have over 85 sets of chairs with some matching sets as many as 18-22 chairs. Please let us know by email is you need a larger set. This particular set of six #1 Larkin tiger sawn oak dining chairs is being sold all for one money. Shipping starts at $285 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.
