We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful original finish solid oak Victorian age S tambour roll top desk in the small version or what we like to call a ladies desk. It has a single bank of drawers going down one side, a pull out writing surface and a large center drawer across the top. The top is extra tall. This is most likely either a Standard roll top as it is the same quality as a Derby, but I don’t believe this is a Derby. When you take the S tambour roll and open it up, it reveals a much better than normal cubby hole interior with pencil trays, pencil drawers and two small drawers with wooden knobs. The base of the desk has a large center drawer. The desk opening is 25 inches wide by 26 inches tall. There are three drawers going to the side which appear to be four, but the bottom drawer is a simulated to drawer and is approximately 10 inches high for files. The drawers themselves are 12 inches wide. It has a pull out writing surface, tambour roll and raised panels all the way around. The top is 19.5 inches high, which is a sign of high quality. The overall size is 42 inches wide, 32 inches deep, 30 inches to the writing surface and 49.5 inches high overall. Take a look at all the photos! The only thing we saw wrong with it is that the lock is missing. It has the original escutcheon plate and struck plate, but no lock. They do make reproductions. The roll top has a small chip by the right hand finger hole and the front had a small crack that we glued up. This desk has it all and is in beautiful original condition. Shipping starts at $285 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
