We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful walnut heavily carved barley twist two piece parlor set that consists of a three cushion sofa and an oversize arm chair with cane sides and a cane back with a carved crest of solid walnut with fleur-de-lis pierce carving and floral arrangements throughout the entire center with the center being a crown with cupids on both sides. The arms on both items are notch molded. They are stout, sturdy and heavy. They have an outside ogee molded carved footed base with bun feet. They have press cane on the back and sides. The interesting story about this two piece parlor set is that I sold a client a large lot of antique furniture for their house. At the time they hired us to go to Hyde Park, New York and at the time we carried this sofa set that dates from the 1930s out of their grandmothers estate and brought it to Maine where they had it reupholstered for $3,500.00. The cushions are all foam with an antique stripe blue with floral backdrop and multi-color stripes as indicated. It is a nice set. The finish is great with minor loss on the clear coat on the arms from normal use. The sofa is large enough to lay down for a nice long nap. Look at the crest and the big turn finials with the corner blocks with the barley twist posts on the backs and front. The overall size of the arm chair is 34 inches wide, 32 inches deep, 34.5 inches high to the top of the post, 23 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The sofa has the same height and depth, but the length is 72 inches (6 feet). The cane is the original cane that is a 100 years old brittle with a couple of small holes, but is very usable. Shipping starts at $485 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
